Cape Perpetua, 6, 08

Driving to the top of the mountain at Cape Perpetua was a joy. We were rewarded with a fantastic view of the Oregon Coast, looking both directions. The nature trail at the top held many visual delights, along with an interesting old fort. We watched a juvenile eagle soaring near the top, and enjoyed many different wildflowers in bloom.



















It was worth the drive, just for the views!

Yaquina Head, 6, 08

We visited the beach at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse which is at the North end of Newport. Chris and Bev had never been there before, so this was a new experience for them.

Chris and I climbed in closer to the wildlife (which we found out later we were not supposed to do).












The beach is not sandy...it is full of smooth roly poly rocks. They were heated up, so laying on them was like a hot rock sauna!




These looked like a type of clover. The colors were vibrant!

Fossils on Beverly Beach, 6, 08

Time out for lunch at the Chowder Bowl (Nye Beach in Newport).


















Beverly Beach, on the Oregon Coast, is a wonderful place to find fossils. Bev lead us on a trek up the beach, and these pictures show some of our finds.

Overall, we had a wonderful time together, enjoyed beautiful weather, and saw many beautiful and interesting things. We also left the coast with a lot of color in our faces and with a desire to return again soon!
























Chris and Bill took their time and enjoyed every minute in the sun.
