Wenatchee, Washington

I never know where I'm going to end up when I go on a business trip with Bill. I had the car while he worked, so I went exploring. I ended up in this area called Swakane Canyon near Wenatchee, Washington. I was on a primitive dirt road, and there was no else in sight...at least not for a while. I enjoyed the scenery.

This area is the apple capital of the world, I think! I encountered some pretty old apple orchards with gnarly trees.

After traveling a few miles along the road I saw some pretty big tracks in the dirt. I wondered if it was cougar tracks and decided I should probably turn around. Later I looked online and realized they were the tracks of a pretty big dog

Lake Chelan, Washington

I went with Bill on a business trip to Washington. While he was at a job fair, I drove to Lake Chelan. I discovered that it is much more fun to do things with another person. However, I'm glad I was able to see this beautiful part of the state.

I parked the car I was driving by the lake and carefully walked to the edge of the water through the snow. The bottom of the lake is covered with rocks that look like granite.

The reflections of the lake were quite beautiful.

It Snowed!!!

It wasn't much, but it sure was beautiful around our home!

A Surprise Visit!

We have a wonderful artist in our church by the name of Walter Rane. He lives in our area, and I've asked him several times if Kate and I could come visit him in his studio. Of course he said we could. I decided it was about time I followed through! Check him out online if you want to see some wonderful religious art!

We enjoyed his dog who kept sneaking off in the other room and confiscating his art tools. I believe the dog realized this was a way to get attention :-).

A Favorite Uncle!

Mom recently had a doctor's appointment in Salem, so Candy drove her out from the coast. After the appointment we drove to my Uncle Ted's. Mom and Candy hadn't seen him for some time, so it was a fun "reunion." Mom and Ted are almost the same age, and it was fun to watch them tease each other about it :-).

A Daytime Treat

I recently drove the loop around Ankeny Wildlife Refuge near our home with my daughter Kate. Although there weren't many birds or ducks, there were some beautiful reflections! Even some old snags can be quite pretty.

This beautiful Red Tail was making loops above my head. Did you know you can tell a Red Tail from below by the dark "bars" along the front of its wings?

There's nothing so sweet as new baby lambs!
