Smith Family Reunion

Another fun and successful Smith Family Reunion took place on July 10 at Clackamette Park in Portland, OR.

We had some special visitors from the Carlisle side of the family! From left to right: Juliann Leitch, Betsy Griffin, Dorothy Loschiavo, and Rose Marie Carlisle. Juliann and Dorothy were raised by their Aunt Francis when their mother, Mary Etta, died. Rose Marie is the wife of Jim Carlisle, Laverne's son. For those not familiar with the family history, Betsy's grandfather John Edward Carlisle married Matilda Wood after the death of his first wife. He and Matilda had Olein, Edward, Francis, Mary Etta, and LaVerne. Juliann had not seen the family on this side of the U.S. for years. She traveled from Florida to be here. Dorothy traveled from California.


These are all first cousins: Betsy, Carolyn, Dorothy, Jim and Juliann. Carolyn and Jim are sister and brother. Dorothy and Juliann are sisters.


These are also first cousins, next generation: Nina, Grace, Debby, Terry, Steve, Chris, Becky Ralph, Sherri. They are trying to decide how to line up from oldest to youngest :-).




They finally got it all together! Pearl was John Edward Carlisle's daughter by his first marriage to Lily Horner. Lester and Pearl (Carlisle) Smith had 10 children. These cousins represent Margarette's family, Toddi's family, Betsy's family, Ruth's family, and Henry's family. I had not seen Sherri for years!
