A Day With Megan and Jesse

Be sure and check out all of my posts! I just posted 9 of them because I'm so far behind! Some of them shifted to the older posts.

Megan and I took Jesse out for a fun day. We started at Bush Park.

Lots of room for one little boy!
Even little boys like flowers...

Exploring the gardens...

Jesse enjoyed feeding these fat little squirrels!
Next we fed ducks at Mission Mill.

We ended our afternoon with a fun lunch at the mall.

Paul's 22nd Birthday

Paul requested a pie for his birthday, so we made him 4 of them! There was a lemon meringue, chocolate meringue, banana cream, and an apple pie. Can you tell he's excited to dig in?

Western Bluebirds

I made an early morning trip to my neighbors' to enjoy his western bluebirds. Each year they come to the bird house he puts up. This is the female waiting for her breakfast.

As in most bird species, the male is much more colorful.

He found a big juicy bug in the garden and he is sharing it with the female.
My neighbor has a variety of bird houses to attract different birds.

I caught this little fellow on the line!

A gorgeous swallow...

A song sparrow...
A little bewick's wren singing its morning song...

Boardwalk at Ankeny Hill Wildlife Refuge

Another trip to Ankeny with Megan, Andy and Jesse. Can you tell this is one of Jesse's favorite places?

Having a Fun Day With Family at Shellburg Falls

Several of our kids gathered with us and hiked to Shellburg Falls for the day. Anne and Matt came with their dog, Tillie. Paul brought his girlfriend, Kayla. Megan and Andy came with Jesse and discovered that a bike cart is a great way to go on a long hike with a 2 year old.

Jesse had it made. He just sat in the back, took in the scenery, and played with sticks!

Paul and Kayla
The wild irises were gorgeous...especially since they were covered with droplets of water.

When we hit the forest trail, Jesse held his own.
Yum...a salmonberry!

The mosses are one of my favorite things to photograph.
The trail down to the viewpoint...
