I love the book club I attend, and we recently read "Where Lilacs Still Bloom," the story of Hulda Klager's life and her love of lilacs and gardening. Her home in Woodland, Washington is now a museum and her gardens are seen by people from all over the world. The many varieties of lilacs that she developed are also blooming in gardens all over the world!
There is a wonderful little gift shop.
Vickie was our "birthday girl" that day :-).
Irresistible fragrance!
Sanna's favorite was the "Frank Klager," named after Hulda's husband.
My favorite are these "Tinkerbells."
This is a place of beauty and peace and stunning colors!

Busy bees!
My favorite fountain does not look like it will be there much longer.
A picture of Hulda in her later years. This is right after her property had a serious flood. It must have been very discouraging for her, especially since it wasn't the first time it happened.
Members of our book club
We enjoy one another very much :-).
Leaving the gardens after a delightful afternoon
I am grateful for a wonderful, bright, hard-working woman who dared to follow her dream, and who left a legacy that will continue to bring joy to others for years to come!
