Trip to Bay City and Tillamook

It's just not a holiday unless we make it to see my mom in Bay City. Megan got to stay an extra week so Jesse got to see his Great Grandma Griffin.

Jesse enjoyed his Great Uncle Chris too.

Mom, Anne, Megan, Katie and I went birdwatching again, and I decided to post this hilarious picture of an ungainly duck in flight :-).

We stopped at the Garibaldi Docks.

Such a happy boy!

The "Three Graces" are a familiar sight to anyone who has traveled highway 101 up the Oregon Coast.

Later, Grandma Griffin taught Jesse how to make the most noise possible from dropping metal lids out of her lid drawer (a favorite past time of many grandchildren!)

He caught on quickly!

We had the opportunity to visit a home where my brother Terry was working on some fireplaces. It was the home of a childhood friend who I hadn't seen since I was about 10!

Terry built the first fireplace and chimney for the Niminster's a while back. Terry's work is a work of art!

He built this chimney more recently on the newer part of the home.

This is the first fireplace.

This is a more recent one in the new addition.

This is the one he is working on now. Terry showed us how he makes a cardboard pattern in the shape he needs. Next he chooses a block that is close to the right size and shape. He uses a rough saw and then a finer one to shape the block. It is a timely process!

We visited Jesse's Great Uncle Jim and Aunt Glenys. While we were there, Jim received a letter informing him that he could become an American Citizen. He was pretty excited!

We passed these elk after leaving Jim and Glenys' house. While we were at my mom's, Chris showed us some fantastic footage he took of 8 bull elk with his movie camera. The cows and bulls separate this time of the year so this herd is all cows.
